Goals of our church

Our Church Concept of Ministry

We are a body of believers
committed to the glory of God,
prayerfully providing and promoting
worship, fellowship, education
evangelism/missions and diaconal ministry
so that many people become
disciples of Jesus Christ,
incorporated into the nurturing and serving fellowship of the church
living obediently before Him in the world.
(1 Corinthians 10:31 and Matthew 28:19-20)

The Importance of Prayer

Since our Lord has taught us that without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5) and demonstrated the importance of prayer by His own example (Mark 1:35), we desire and intend to be diligent in prayer as individuals, families and as a congregation as we seek to implement the following goals (Ephesians 6:18, Philippians 4:6, Colossians 4:2, 1 Thessalonians 5:17):

Our Church Goals

(a) Worship: The great purpose of the church of Jesus Christ is worship. This will be the continuous activity of the church in its perfect form in heaven (Revelation 5:12). We are called to worship God alone, from the heart, informed by a true understanding of who He is and what He has done (Deuteronomy 5:7, Psalm 95:6-7, Mark 7:6-7, John 4:23-24). Therefore it is our desire and intent each Lord’s Day to gather joyfully in the worship of God as God’s covenant people, to hear His Word read and proclaimed, to celebrate His love, power, and blessings so that God is worshipped in spirit and truth and people meet God and are built up in Christian faith (Psalm 96, John 4:24, Hebrews 10:25).

(b) Fellowship: Fellowship with God is the fountain from which our fellowship with one another flows and true fellowship with one another leads always to a deepening of fellowship with God. We are called to show genuine concern for one another’s growth in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. We are to express this concern through our words and actions of encouragement, as well as loving admonition, to build each other up to maturity in Christ (Ephesians 4:15-16, Hebrews 10:23-25). Every believer has a task or role according to his/her gifts and talents for the edifying of the body. The Bible commands us to avoid the terrible sin of division (Proverbs 6:16,19) by encouraging the three-step procedure of Matthew 18:15-17 in dealing with one another (cf. Matthew 5:23-24). Fellowship is maintained when we refuse to participate in backbiting, talebearing and gossiping either in public or private. It is our desire to help every person meet and make new friends, so that everyone feels accepted in the church, is assimilated into the congregation, and lives in the joy of Christian fellowship (John 15:13, Romans 2:6, Acts 2:42). It is our desire and intent to help new people be adopted into membership and to prayerfully care for one another in love, so that every member feels he/she belongs here and experiences Christian love, encouragement, and mutual support (Galatians 6:1-10).

(c) Education: It is our intent and desire to offer life-related biblical instruction and training for adults, youth, and children so that we are led to personal faith in Jesus Christ, are helped to live for Christ thankfully and obediently in all areas of life, and increase our understanding of God, the Christian faith, and of our church (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Colossians 3:12-17, 1 Timothy 4:1-14).

(d) Evangelism & Missions: It is our command and privilege to proclaim and live the gospel, which is the power of God for salvation. This is to be done both by word and deed, locally and abroad that the nations may praise Him. The conversion of the lost is in the Lord’s hands, but He uses human instruments to spread the gospel (Romans 1:16; 10:14-15). It is our desire and intent to encourage and enable one another, through our congregational activities and as individuals in public and private life, to witness where we are and to share with others our personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord in the hope that people will be attracted to Jesus Christ, believe in Him as Savior and Lord, and become faithful members of His church (Acts 1:8, Romans 10:8-15, 1 Peter 2:9-12). It is also our desire and intent to promote and support mission work by prayer and contributions. We will encourage communication between missionaries and ourselves so that missionaries are aware of our support and we are informed about their work (Acts 13:2-3, Acts 18:22-23; 21:17-26).

(e) Diaconal Ministry: It is our desire and intent to develop and use the personal resources and gifts, as well as the financial and material resources which God has given us, so that God’s mercy and love is displayed, human suffering alleviated, and the quality of life improved for persons in our congregation, community and world (Micah 6:8, Matthew 25:31-46, James 1:22-27; 2:15-17).
